Emerald Isle Fireworks 2011
Well good news! At least I think it is anyway. The Town of Emerald Isle will be having their fireworks display at Bogue Inlet Pier. To me it’s the only appropriate venue for fireworks on the fourth of July. McLean Park just didn’t do much for me when it came to the fireworks.

New e911 Center for Carteret County
After more than two years Carteret County’s new e911 telecommunications center will become fully operational. This project has been in the works for quite some time. It’s required a substantial amount of funding and a lot of hard work from county staff. According to the News Times report the center would be fully operational by the end of yesterday.
Buffalo Wild Wings Morehead City

Emerald Isle Parking
A couple beach towns along the Crystal Coast are considering the idea of charging for parking at some of the larger beach access points. Both Atlantic Beach and Emerald Isle are tossing the ideas around.
Yana’s Swansboro
So this morning I was starving, and there hasn’t been a recent restaurant review here in some time, and this awesome little place in Swansboro was calling my name. Yana’s Ye Olde Drugstore is one of the best places around for great breakfast.
Surf Night – Ballyhoos
This Saturday, December 18th get ready for Surf Night to invade Ballyhoos once again. Surf night is one of my favorite regular events at Ballyhoos, and I bet I’m not alone in my sentiment. There’s food, drinks, and live music. Not to mention the famous raffle.
Skateboarding Emerald Isle
So yesterday, being that the temperatures were so warm, my buddy Steve called and was like, “You wanna go skate a bit?” It sounded like a good idea since I have been cooped in the house for days with the cold weather we’ve been having lately.
Car Break-Ins Emerald Isle
Thursday the Emerald Isle Police Department arrested a man who is suspected of breaking into several vehicles in the vicinity. From what it sounds like the thief was only a few blocks from the police station.
Cape Lookout High School
Cape Lookout High School, which is located in Morehead City is set to close by the end of this month. The state board of education is concerned about the school’s high dropout rate. It is 30%, which is the highest in the state. Many of the kids that attend Cape Lookout High School end up there because they’re struggling in a more traditional classroom setting.
