Emerald Isle Wine Market Fire

The Emerald Isle Wine Market caught fire on Sunday January 18th at about 5:30 am. The market is attached to a gas station and convenience store located at the intersection of Coast Guard Road and Hwy 58 in Emerald Isle.

The building sustained heavy damage during the blaze. The blaze took over forty firefighters from four fire departments 10 hours to extinguish.

Thankfully the fire-fighter’s hard work and fast response kept the damage from getting worse or spreading.

The wine market has been a favorite place for visitors to Emerald Isle to fuel up and peruse the extensive wine selection. Currently the fire is still under investigation by the Emerald Isle Fire Department, the Carteret County Fire Marshall, and the SBI.

I’m happy to report there were no injuries in the blaze.

I would imagine the owners of the wine market will have this repaired and be back in business before too long.

    Jason,
From reading your other posts, it sounds like you get around Emerald Isle a lot more than I would (me being in PA and all). If you happen to be around Coast Guard Road in your travels, please stop into the temporary office trailer and let them know that we are anxiously awaiting any kind of reply. Thanks again. Debbie
