Friday, December 24th, 2010A couple beach towns along the Crystal Coast are considering the idea of charging for parking at some of the larger beach access points. Both Atlantic Beach and Emerald Isle are tossing the ideas around.
Yana’s Swansboro
Wednesday, December 22nd, 2010So this morning I was starving, and there hasn’t been a recent restaurant review here in some time, and this awesome little place in Swansboro was calling my name. Yana’s Ye Olde Drugstore is one of the best places around for great breakfast.
Surf Night – Ballyhoos
Thursday, December 16th, 2010This Saturday, December 18th get ready for Surf Night to invade Ballyhoos once again. Surf night is one of my favorite regular events at Ballyhoos, and I bet I’m not alone in my sentiment. There’s food, drinks, and live music. Not to mention the famous raffle.
Skateboarding Emerald Isle
Monday, December 13th, 2010So yesterday, being that the temperatures were so warm, my buddy Steve called and was like, “You wanna go skate a bit?” It sounded like a good idea since I have been cooped in the house for days with the cold weather we’ve been having lately.
Car Break-Ins Emerald Isle
Saturday, December 11th, 2010Thursday the Emerald Isle Police Department arrested a man who is suspected of breaking into several vehicles in the vicinity. From what it sounds like the thief was only a few blocks from the police station.
Cape Lookout High School
Wednesday, December 8th, 2010Cape Lookout High School, which is located in Morehead City is set to close by the end of this month. The state board of education is concerned about the school’s high dropout rate. It is 30%, which is the highest in the state. Many of the kids that attend Cape Lookout High School end up there because they’re struggling in a more traditional classroom setting.
Marine Killed in Car Crash
Tuesday, December 7th, 2010Emerald Isle – This past Friday, December 4th at around 9:30pm a 31 year old marine stationed at Cherry Point was killed in a wreck. The car accident happened just south of the bridge on highway 58 in Emerald Isle.
Nicky’s of Swansboro
Thursday, December 2nd, 2010The other night I decided to hit one of my more recent favorite restaurants along the Crystal Coast. This would be Nicky’s of Swansboro. Everything about this place is great. From the outstanding service to the wonderful cuisine you, can’t go wrong here.
Swansboro Flotilla 2010
Saturday, November 20th, 2010Friday November 26th, 2010 from 6pm to 8pm be sure to head to Swansboro for the annual holiday flotilla. If it rains the rain date is Saturday. Let’s hope the weather and wind cooperate with us this year. Last year’s flotilla had to be re-scheduled due to the high winds we were experiencing.
