While we have you here in Beaufort, be sure to find at least one of our many fun things to do. If you’re here for a week, go to the beach a couple of days. But also make certain to check out some of the unique shopping opportunities which abound in Beaufort. You’ll definitely want to make it out to some of the many restaurants here in town too, trust me.
Here is a short list of more things to do:
- Tour Beaufort – tourbeaufort.com (I’d post the link, but they had some talking banner thing….and I hate uninitiated audio on the web, I have music and when something on the page just starts talking its obnoxious.) Anyway, they provide many different services. The Beaufort Ghost Walk (which I think the town keeps trying to ban or something.) Tour Beaufort also has a horse and shelling tour. For more information call them at (252) 342-0715
- NC Maritime Museum - This is one very cool place. If you find yourself bummed out with a rainy day definitely head to the Maritime Museum. You’ll probably learn a lot and see some really rare photos and old artifacts that give you a real sense of what life was like on the Crystal Coast in times past. (252) 728-2108
- Rachel Carson Preserve – Now here is where it gets tricky, the preserve is only accessible by boat. The good news is there are plenty of kayaks or other watercraft that can be rented in Beaufort. The preserve is across Taylor’s Creek from the waterfront in Beaufort.
- Cape Lookout National Seashore – To really see the Crystal Coast as it would be untouched one must venture to the end of the earth, literally. The Cape Lookout National Seashore, aside from the lighthouse and the surrounding park service structures, there is no building allowed, anywhere. The lighthouse in and of itself is well worth the trip. Try to schedule a trip when there will be a tour though, it’s awesome! (252) 728-2250
