Cape Carteret, NC is a charming, small town situated on Bogue Sound along the Crystal Coast. The town was officially incorporated on June 3rd of 1959. In 2007 the population was listed as 1,412, a 17.9 percent increase since 2000. The moderate weather, low crime, and proximity to the water make Cape Carteret an attractive place to live or visit. Though the town is small it is always growing. While you’re here you may need to mail a package home, wash your car, or rent a movie. There are a few different restaurants to choose from, one of the finest grocery stores around, and a fuel station. Not to mention we now have a bowling alley, movie rental, and a couple pharmacies.
To find a place to eat in town, check out the Cape Carteret Restaurants page.
The town has the longest running Neighborhood Watch program in the state of North Carolina. its been operating continously since the 1970s. Also if you are a resident and haven’t got yours, you need to get a town decal for your vehicle. In the event of a hiurricane or other disasater it will be required to re-enter the town. It also allows you to park near the water in a couple of town parks.
You’ll also need to check with the town for a building permit if you’re doing any kind of construction with in town. Trust me i don’t think you want to be caught without a permit.
